This Autumn Florencia Guerberof returns with a new series of presencial Butoh sessions in London.
Due to Covid 19 and in line with the current health policies, this workshop is limited to 12 participants. The event will be held in the venue’s largest space, the Performance Studio, with adequate ventilation.
The workshop includes physical training ( following the principles of energy flow through tai chi, yoga and release technique) improvisation tasks, tools for the development of personal choreographic material based on felt imagery and theory on the fundamental principles of “the invisible technique”.
The sessions will introduce Butoh, a Japanese Avant-Garde dance theatre movement originated in Tokyo in 1959 by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno. The physical practice is supported by theory and recommended bibliography.
Be prepared for an intense physical and mental practice. Participants are encouraged to join the whole training to gain a deeper insight into the work however attending a single session (either day one or two) is also allowed.
No previous experience of Butoh is required although participants are expected to have a dance, theatre or movement background and/or a good level of physical resistance. Please inform us of any medical condition you may have before applying.
Florencia Guerberof will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to belongings or any types of injuries to participants that occur whilst attending the course. Participants must inform Florencia about any past and/or present injuries before joining the training.

WEAR
Warm comfortable clothes suitable for the physical practice, neutral colour ( black, white or grey, no patterns)
